Science vs. Spirituality?

  • Church Building 831 Northeast Fremont Street Portland, OR, 97212 United States (map)

Brian Miller, PhD will discuss different perspectives on the interrelationship between faith and science. He will also describe how advances in science over the past several decades have brought awareness of the appearance of design throughout nature. In addition, he will explain how scientific theories based on atheistic versions of evolution and cosmology have increasingly proven incapable of explaining the recent observations in physics and biology. Finally, special topics will be addressed, such as the danger of appealing to the God of the Gaps and the implications of the faith-science dialogue in society.

Dr. Miller received his BS in physics from MIT and his PhD in physics from Duke University. He provides technical consulting for a Nashville based invention guide, and has served as an organizational consultant for a wide range of companies. He was also a technical consultant for the book God’s Not Dead which shaped the movie by the same title. Dr. Miller speaks internationally on the topics of intelligent design and on the impact that both scientific and spiritual world views have in society.
