Back to School Night

God has called us to make disciples on our university campuses. Of course, we want to see everyone given the chance to hear and respond to the gospel, but as a unique part of our calling as a church, we do desire to see students meet Jesus and make a lasting impact at their schools. Because as we say, change the campus, change the world.

The purpose of our Back to School Night is to:
1. Clarify our vision and strategy,
2. Give students across multiple campuses, as well as alumni the opportunity to meet and encourage one another,
3. Provide next steps for those who want to get more involved, and
4. Share one big really exciting announcement!

If you’re a student, this is totally for you!
If you believe in campus ministry and want to bless our students at Grace City, it’s for you too.

(Food and refreshments provided.)

Ekklesia Leaders & Hosts Training (option#2)

Are you interested in leading, co-leading, continuing to lead, or simply opening your home to host an ekklesia? Then this evening is for you!

If you're already an ongoing ekklesia leader or host, then we'll see you there! We want to encourage you, further equip you, and hear about your experiences and insights, because together we can all benefit from our collective experiences. If you've been leading for a while, you've got just as much to offer as you have to receive at these trainings!

And of course, if you've not led or hosted an ekklesia before, then definitely come find out what they're are all about, and see if leading or hosting a group may be for you!

Regarding the two training 'options', we've scheduled two training sessions on the two back-to-back Mondays simply to give you guys scheduling options. You only need to attend one of the sessions, but of course, you're more than welcome to come along for both (especially if you're a veteran leader with wisdom so share!)

Training Option #1 - Monday, August 5th, 6-8pm
Training Option #2 - Thursday, August 22nd, 6-8pm

Kid City Volunteer Training

Calling all Kid City volunteers! About every six months we bring all of our amazing volunteers together for an important training session just after our Sunday morning service. This is an important time for everyone to get up to date on curriculum, new policies, and some other cool things we've been working on behind the scenes. As always, we’ll also have a short time of equipping, so that we can all continue to grow as leaders and ministers of the gospel.

If you've been serving in Kid City for a while, please do consider this mandatory. And if you have yet to actually serve on a Sunday, but you're still interested in jumping in (or at least finding out a bit more about Kid City), then this meeting is also for you!

Sunday / November 18  / 12-1pm / at the church building
Childcare provided.
Lunch also provided.

Thanks for serving our kiddos!
Grace and Peace,

Palm Sunday Baptisms

Palm Sunday Baptisms

Jesus' death on the cross for us was God's promise kept to the world he so loves. Our dying to self and being raised with Jesus in the waters of baptism is our 'yes' in response to His love. Of course, it's not the physical act of baptism that makes the sacrament so meaningful. (1 Peter 3:18-22) Baptism is an appeal to God, a demonstration of faith, an act of obedience, a declaration of total surrender, as you look to Jesus, who is our ultimate source of life - today and for eternity to come.

If you'd like to talk with someone more in-depth (perhaps you were baptized as a child and have questions about that?) Or if you simply desire to get baptized as soon as possible, then get in touch, and we’ll figure it out.

I Believe (w/ Dr Brian Miller)

  • Washington State University Vancouver (map)

Is science in conflict with spirituality?
Explore the evidence for design in nature.

Seattle-based scientist and researcher, Dr. Brian Miller, will discuss different perspectives on the interrelationship between faith and science. He will also describe how advances in science over the past several decades have brought awareness of the appearance of design throughout nature. In addition, he will explain how scientific theories based on atheistic versions of evolution and cosmology have increasingly proven incapable of explaining the recent observations in physics and biology. Finally, special topics will be addressed, such as the danger of appealing to the God of the Gaps and the implications of the faith-science dialogue in society.

Dr. Miller received his BS in physics from MIT and his PhD in physics from Duke University. He provides technical consulting for a Nashville based invention guide, and has served as an organizational consultant for a wide range of companies. He was also a technical consultant for the book God’s Not Dead which shaped the movie by the same title. Dr. Miller speaks internationally on the topics of intelligent design and on the impact that both scientific and spiritual world views have in society.

This is FREE on-campus event.
Refreshments will be provided.

Child Dedication Sunday

Child Dedication Sunday

They say it takes a whole village to raise a child. (too true!) At Grace City, we like to think of ourselves as just that kind of village, where we can all dedicate ourselves to praying, encouraging, and doing whatever we can to serve each other and raise our little ones together.

Which is why we occasionally reserve a moment on a Sunday morning to bless the children that God is adding to our families and dedicate them through prayer to the Lord’s safekeeping, as well as to the church, as a kind of an extended spiritual family.

It’s also just a really special way to celebrate together. Kids are such a blessing!

If you’re interested in having your child dedicated at Grace City, please let us know.
