Join us as we gather together to begin the season of Lent.
Historically, the church has commemorated the beginning of Lent through the marking of ashes on the foreheads of believers on the Wednesday forty days (not counting the six Sundays) prior to Easter Sunday. The ashes represent a call to repentance and serve as a reminder, as we reflect on our Lord’s sacrificial death and look forward to Resurrection Sunday.
We will worship in song, hear a short teaching on the meaning of Lent, and offer the ‘imposition of ashes’ for all who are who are willing.
Anyone is welcome!

Grace City Portland is honored - for the second year in a row! - to host the Wild Goose Repertory’s production of The Chimes!
From the greatest holiday writer of all time comes this tale of hope, family, and Christmas cheer. This fast-paced, imaginative one-person show is perfect for the whole family!
In this classic Dickens story, Toby Veck stands day-after-day in the shadow of a bell tower, forging a bond with the chimes that peel out far overhead. Facing extreme poverty, crime, and the daily difficulties of the world, Toby begins to lose hope - until the magical chimes take him on a journey to the future, renewing his hope and happiness. For any who may be struggling to find hope in this season, The Chimes is an honest, moving, and joyful celebration of the hope of Christmas.
Do not miss out on your chance to see this amazing production for two nights only - Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 11th & 12th at 7:30. Tickets are $15 per adult, $12 per student/child/senior.
For the season of Advent this year, we will be participating in the Angel Tree Program! Angel Tree is a part of the Ministry of Prison Fellowship that helps Incarcerated Parents stay in touch with their children while spreading the love of Jesus.
There are 4 ways to participate:
Contacting Caregivers: Since their parents are incarcerated the children live with either family or friends. Angel Tree provides us with the needed contact information to gather information about the children that we will be serving! things such as clothing sizes, interests, etc.
Gift Buying: This is a great one for everyone to participate in! This is the biggest way to share the love with these children!
Gift Wrapping: This is truly an art form! wrapping the gifts gives them that much more of a Christmas feeling!
Gift Distribution: Literally bringing the love to these children! Delivering the gifts to these families! We may do a gift-opening party at Grace City, but that will depend on what the caregivers say.
If you are interested in joining any of these teams Please email Selina at bickettselina@gmail.com with your contact information!
Thank you for sharing the love of Jesus and Grace City with these Children!
This is a time to roll up our sleeves and come together to clean, maintain, and fix up our beautiful , near 100-year-old building! There will be a variety of small projects to help out with. Hope to see you there!
As you may have heard, the 2023 Every Nation GO Conference is this October in Cape Town, South Africa!
Every three years our global family of churches, Every Nation, hosts a conference and invites the world to celebrate and worship together. The conference has daily main teachings, powerful worship, and a variety of topical breakout sessions. It's a life changing moment getting to be in the same room with our greater spiritual family from over 75 nations. This year, we are also intending to include an option for a short mission trip on the back end of the conference for those who would like to experience cross-cultural missions while still in Cape Town!
Right now, we are estimating that this trip (includes flights, housing, transportation, and some meals) would cost about $3,050 per person for the conference week or $3,750 for those wanting to stay longer and participate on the missions trip on the back end of the conference. As we are planning to travel as a group from Grace City, the price will likely drop as we get more firm group numbers. The likely dates for the conference (with travel) are Tuesday, Oct 3rd through Monday, Oct 9th. The optional mission trip extension would extend the trip through Sunday, Oct 15th.
The conference will approach quickly and we want to begin gauging interest from amongst people at Grace City! If you are interested and want to learn more, please contact Simon at simon@gracecityportland.org for more info.
This is a family meeting, so if Grace City is your church family (or you're simply curious to find out what the Grace fam's all about), then this is definitely for you.
Finances, leadership updates, plans for the future, opportunities, testimonies, etc... We'll cover a bit of everything related to how we're doing as a church family, and where God is leading us as we continue to grow.
As always, we'll also have time for some Q&A, so come with any questions or comments you may have.
They say it takes a whole village to raise a child. (too true!) At Grace City, we like to think of ourselves as just that kind of village, where we can all dedicate ourselves to praying, encouraging, and doing whatever we can to serve each other and raise our little ones together.
Which is why we occasionally reserve a moment on a Sunday morning to bless the children that God is adding to our families and dedicate ourselves - as parents, foster parents, and an extended spiritual family - to encourage one another and play our part in raising up the next generation of young disciples of Jesus.
If you’re interested in having your child/children dedicated at Grace City, please let us know.

Throughout the centuries, Christians across the world have observed the 40 days before Easter as the season of Lent. This is a season of transformation as we return to God in prayer and reflection. Traditionally, Lent begins on Ash Wednesday with a service where we remember our need for God and his grace. On Wednesday February 22nd, we are gathering for a special Ash Wednesday service, to begin this special season of transformation together. (There will be no First Wednesday Worship Night in March)
When: Wednesday, February 22nd at 7pm
